The Poppy Factory is the country’s leading employment charity for veterans with physical and/or mental health conditions. Founded in 1922 by Major George Howson MC to provide employment for veterans injured during The First World War it now employs around 30 wounded, injured and sick veterans to produce the poppies, wreaths and symbols for the Royal Family and The Royal British Legion’s annual Poppy Appeal. Last year the production team hand-made 7.6 million Remembrance poppies for The Royal British Legion.
In recognition of the changing needs of today’s veterans with disabilities, The Poppy Factory launched a programme in 2010, to help wounded, injured and sick veterans back into employment within their own local communities.
